The Best Body Contouring Device: Physiq
What is Physiq?
Physiq is the only FDA-cleared body sculpting device that can target both fat and muscle simultaneously. Citrine is the first in Lincoln to have this amazing device. Physiq uses a combination of 850nm diode laser and EMS (electromagnetic stimulation) to treat areas of fat and muscle. This is called “STEP” technology (Sequential Thermal & Electrical Pulse) and helps reduce fat and tone muscle! Citrine is the most experienced in Lincoln when it comes to Physiq.
How does Physiq help reach fitness goals?
Physiq uses a laser that has cooling technology to keep patients comfortable and protect the skin. Fat cells are heated to 115 degrees, and this causes apoptosis, otherwise known as fat cell death. The destroyed fat cells are broken down in the liver and excreted through the urine approximately 8-12 weeks after completing a treatment series. If toning is your only goal, Physiq can be used in the EMS mode for stimulating muscle. 30 minutes of EMS on abdominal muscles is the equivalent to doing 4,500 crunches in the gym. Physiq is a great option for people who want results yet have a busy lifestyle.
Who is a good candidate for Physiq?
The best candidate is someone who wants to target stubborn fat areas that exercise and diet won’t seem to touch. Physiq at Citrine Medspa is a great option for someone looking for results, but doesn’t want to undergo surgery, needles, or any invasive techniques. Physiq can help reach your fitness goals by toning a certain area that hasn’t seen improvement in the gym. The most popular treatment areas include: abdomen, love handles, flanks, inner thighs, outer thighs, hamstrings, glutes, and arms. Physiq is very safe and doesn’t have risky side effects, unlike other body contouring devices currently being used.
What to expect during your Physiq appointment at Citrine?
Pre-Treatment: Patients will have a free consultation with Citrine’s Registered Nurse. An individualized treatment plan will be developed for each patient at Citrine, tailored to their specific fitness goals. The desired treatment area needs to be free of lotions, spray tans, or hair. We are not able to treat directly over a tattoo.
Treatment: Our registered nurse here at Citrine will assess the treatment areas discussed during your consultation, and then place the treatment pads on the areas. If targeting fat cells during the treatment, it will feel like a warm heating pad is on the treatment areas. If toning is the primary goal, the treatment pads are placed over the appropriate muscle group. This will cause the muscle is feel stimulated, such as a workout. If STEP method is being used, the treatment will feel a combination of warmth and muscle stimulation. The treatment is virtually painless. The nurse will stay in the room for the first 5 minutes to determine appropriate treatment settings. Treatments can take 30 minutes or 1 hour depending on goals.
Post-Treatment: Patients will need to massage the treated areas twice daily for 2-5 minutes. This will help encourage the destroyed fat cells to move into the lymphatic system. Hydration is very important before and after Physiq treatments, as it this will enhance results. Patients will need to stay out of saunas and avoid intense workouts 48 hours post treatment. If going out into the sun, patients will need to protect the treated areas with SPF of 50 or greater and reapply every two hours to protect the skin.
Will I be sore afterwards?
No! Physiq targets fast and slow twitch muscles which helps to prevent lactic acid build up.
How many treatments will I need?
This is dependent on the patient and will be discussed with our registered nurse during your Physiq consultation. It will take on average 5-10 sessions to see desired results.
When do I start seeing results?
If toning is your only goal, you will start to see results after just one session! If targeting stubborn fat is your priority, this can take 8-12 weeks after your treatment series to see desired results. This is due to our body’s natural process of breaking down fat cells. Hydration is extremely important to speed this process along.
