MEDICAL GRADE CHEMICAL PEELS

MEDICAL GRADE CHEMICAL PEELS

What is a medical grade chemical peel?

A medical grade peel is a chemical peel that must be performed in an office that has a medical director available. This type of peel must be performed with someone who has been properly trained to avoid adverse or unwanted outcomes. Citrine Medspa offers the ZO 3-Step chemical peel. The ZO 3-Step Peel is a medium depth peel. Medium depth chemical peels are able to reach the top layer of the dermis (the dermis is the second layer of the skin) to stimulate stronger anti-aging effects.

What is the ZO 3-Step Peel?

ZO 3-Step Peel is the medium depth peel performed in office at Citrine Medspa. It is a chemical peel composed of TCA, salicylic acid, and lactic acid. This peel provides fast healing time, with 3-4 days of exfoliation. It provides strong epidermal renewal and dermal (anti-aging) benefits. It is recommended to have a series of 3 peels spaced 4-6 weeks apart for best results.

Who is a good candidate for the ZO 3-Step Peel?

Most patients are a candidate for the ZO 3-Step chemical peel. This peel is used for patients who have melasma, uneven skin tone, acne, textural damage, enlarged pores, acne scars, photodamage, sun spots, mild wrinkles, and skin laxity. The skin must be prepped prior to having the chemical peel performed for optimal results.

How is the skin prepped prior to a chemical peel?

It is important to prep the skin prior to having the ZO 3-Step peel to enhance outcomes and ensure safety. Patients will be given a customized skincare regimen and a retinol of at least 0.5% or prescription tretinoin. This will be used at least 6 weeks before the first peel to ensure the skin is ready to absorb the peel evenly.

What can patients expect with this peel?

Patients should expect some downtime with this peel, but it will be minimal. Patients will receive ZO Hydrating Creme with their peel to calm the skin during the healing phase. Skin is fully healed 7 days after the peel and will be glowing. The peel is tolerable for most patients and any discomfort only lasts for approximately 10-15 minutes.
